My Safety in My Hand: Sexual Harassment and Gender Awareness program


Department of Psychology in collaboration with Vidhyarthini Manch organized a programme on Wednesday, 6th December 2017  on the topic “ Mazi Surakha Mazya Hathi'( My Safety in My Hand) under sexual harassment and woman's rights. On this occasion Mrs Kirti Deshpande from NGO Stree Shakti Jagran Sanstha and Advocate Eeshani Joshi delivered the lectures and interacted with the 57+ girl students.

 Mrs Kirti Deshpande  explained the concept of sexual  harassment and types of abuses, their root causes, precautions to be taken, prevention, protections and safety, assistance from Police as well as from Police Mitra app.

Advocate Eeshani Joshi has emphasied on How to use user friendly laws. She explained in detail the various laws related to sexual harassment and sexual abuse such as  laws regarding domestic violence,personal body remarks, teasing from particular group or family members, scaring, personal remark which provoke acid attack, rape, exploitation, threat for life, private talks, insulting language, singing in a lift intentionally, vulgar songs on road, dating offers, coffee offers by unknown person, SMS, MMS and text messages, etc.

Advocate Eeshani Joshi alerted all students if any such things happen then take help of  Police Mitra App and ragister a complain under the sexual harassment laws for women. Safeguard yourself and try to help others by spreading the message among your friends, cousins, relatives and well-wisher.

The Vice Chairperson of Vidhyarthini Manch, Dr Swaleha Pathan  introduced the guest to the students and felicitated them.. The support of committee members:,Mrs. Maherunnisa Shaikh, Dr. Sajid Hundekari,,Mrs. Mulla, Mrs.Erum and Miss Rubina  is appreciated.
