My Safety in My Hand: Sexual Harassment and Gender Awareness program


Department of Psychology in collaboration with Vidhyarthini Manch organized a programme on Wednesday, 6th December 2017  on the topic “ Mazi Surakha Mazya Hathi'( My Safety in My Hand) under sexual harassment and woman's rights. On this occasion Mrs Kirti Deshpande from NGO Stree Shakti Jagran Sanstha and Advocate Eeshani Joshi delivered the lectures and interacted with the 57+ girl students.

 Mrs Kirti Deshpande  explained the concept of sexual  harassment and types of abuses, their root causes, precautions to be taken, prevention, protections and safety, assistance from Police as well as from Police Mitra app.

Advocate Eeshani Joshi has emphasied on How to use user friendly laws. She explained in detail the various laws related to sexual harassment and sexual abuse such as  laws regarding domestic violence,personal body remarks, teasing from particular group or family members, scaring, personal remark which provoke acid attack, rape, exploitation, threat for life, private talks, insulting language, singing in a lift intentionally, vulgar songs on road, dating offers, coffee offers by unknown person, SMS, MMS and text messages, etc.

Advocate Eeshani Joshi alerted all students if any such things happen then take help of  Police Mitra App and ragister a complain under the sexual harassment laws for women. Safeguard yourself and try to help others by spreading the message among your friends, cousins, relatives and well-wisher.

    The sexual harassment and gender awareness program was very informative. I thank Dr Swaleha Pathan Mam for conducting the awareness program which was very informative and interesting interaction.

Intercollegiate Psychology Exhibition Psy-spectrum

First Prize winner from Poona College awarded by Chief Guest Dr. Mahesh Deshmukh The Department of Psychology had organized the Intercollegiate Psychology Exhibition Psy-Spectrum 2018 on Monday 17 th  September 2018.the aim of the exhibition was to bring out the talent among students and bring awareness of spectrum of psychology among all    faculty teaching staff, Non-Teaching staff and students. Wide spectrum of psychology field was displayed by various college students. In all total 8 colleges participated in this exhibition. Abeda Inamdar Senior College, Shri Shau Mandir Mahavidyalaya, S.N.D.T College for Women, Modern College, St. Mira’s Girls College, Junior College of    Poona college and    Maharashtra College from Mumbai had participated and displayed their creations. REPORT ON INTERACTIVE SESSION OF GUEST LECTURE:

The interactive session of guest lecture was organized by Department of Psychology on ‘Interpersonal Relationship and Communication’ by Dr. Alka Wadkar, Ex-Professor of Savitribai Phule Pune University and Gold Medalist of Kolhapur university, on 5 th December 2017.The student beneficiaries were   40+ by this session. Dr. Alka wadkar explained the importance of communication: verbal and non-verbal  communication, its advantages and disadvantages. She explained how communication plays important role in enhancing interpersonal relationship. She interacted with students and gave various examples to have clear understanding of topic at hand. She motivated the students to improve communication skills in turn interpersonal relationships. She played simulation technique with students so that they will  understand the errors made in communication. Psychology students enjoyed the interactive session.
