Intercollegiate Psychology Exhibition Psy-spectrum





First Prize winner from Poona College awarded by Chief Guest Dr. Mahesh Deshmukh


The Department of Psychology had organized the Intercollegiate Psychology Exhibition Psy-Spectrum 2018 on Monday 17th September 2018.the aim of the exhibition was to bring out the talent among students and bring awareness of spectrum of psychology among all  faculty teaching staff, Non-Teaching staff and students. Wide spectrum of psychology field was displayed by various college students. In all total 8 colleges participated in this exhibition. Abeda Inamdar Senior College, Shri Shau Mandir Mahavidyalaya, S.N.D.T College for Women, Modern College, St. Mira’s Girls College, Junior College of  Poona college and  Maharashtra College from Mumbai had participated and displayed their creations. More than 400 students visited this exhibition and got benefitted with the information displayed by Psychology students.
The Chief Guest Dr. Mahesh Deshmukh and Guest of Honor Mrs. Arati Pendse inaugurated the exhibition and judged the entries of students. Principal Dr. Aftab Anwar Shaikh interacted with every participant and encouraged them to have further steps to take this information to various classes. Dr. Sajid hundekar and Mr.Musharraf Hussain interacted with students. In all 98 entries were displayed in the exhibition. The creative exhibits based on general Psychology, Social psychology, Clinical Psychology and Industrial Psychology was displayed.  Information on depression, its symptoms and treatment of depression, antidepressant, phobia, types of phobia, how Confident are you?, suicidal thoughts, anxiety and depression in children and adolescents, conflict and its management, stress and its management, body language, color preference and personality, industrial organization, types of tests, how to enhance self - esteem and many other spectrum of Psychology were covered by students.
Enthusiastic students and their creative awareness of Psychology information was appreciated by college teaching and Non-Teaching staff. Other faculty students appreciated the efforts of students.
Dr. Deshmukh gave his expert opinion on exhibition. He congratulated all participants and appreciated each and every participant. He gave positive feedback to students further he appreciated Dr. Swaleha Pathan, Head, Department of Psychology and her committee member Dr. Sajid Hundekar for organizing such a big event. Whereas Mrs. Pendse said it is difficult to put Psychology on chart but students have really tried to put lot of information in this exhibition and appreciated their efforts of making the charts.  She congratulated the organizers.
The special thanks goes to NCC Naval Officer Dr. Sajid Hundekar and his N.C.C Cadets and Naziya Patel for giving constant support to make this exhibition a grand success. Student committee of Psychology Department help is appreciated.

    It is a excellent example to explore the creativity and innovation ideas of the participants who put a lot of information and work hard to present their chart in the exhibition. Dr Swaleha Pathan madam was completed involved in organising a Grand Psychology exhibition and motivated colleges to take part in it.
    I proud to be a member of the organization committee.

REPORT ON INTERACTIVE SESSION OF GUEST LECTURE:

The interactive session of guest lecture was organized by Department of Psychology on ‘Interpersonal Relationship and Communication’ by Dr. Alka Wadkar, Ex-Professor of Savitribai Phule Pune University and Gold Medalist of Kolhapur university, on 5 th December 2017.The student beneficiaries were   40+ by this session. Dr. Alka wadkar explained the importance of communication: verbal and non-verbal  communication, its advantages and disadvantages. She explained how communication plays important role in enhancing interpersonal relationship. She interacted with students and gave various examples to have clear understanding of topic at hand. She motivated the students to improve communication skills in turn interpersonal relationships. She played simulation technique with students so that they will  understand the errors made in communication. Psychology students enjoyed the interactive session.
