STUDY TOUR CUM SOCIAL AWARENESS DRIVE



Department of Psychology had organized a study tour cum social awareness drive to the Sardar Vallabbhai Patel Cantonment board Hospital in Pune, established in 1928, the oldest Government hospital, on 30th August 2018. The aim of this visit is to inculcate feeling of care and encouraging students to do social service. The motto of the visit was to make Psychology students understand the patient’s psychology, their needs and problems. In all 42 students got benefitted by this visit.
Matron Mone took all the students for round to each department like Casualty OPD where Dr.Sumit, Dr. Priyank Patel and Matron Mone explained students about the availability of emergency medicines, medical aids, procedure, ECG and X-Ray facility if any patient comes in emergency. Dr. Priyank Patel clarified the doubts and replied student’s questions satisfactorily. Matron Mone gave the information related to various operations carried out in Operation Theater. Which type of patients are treated in surgery. In sonography section the in-charge explained students about procedure of sonography why sonography is done and the report of sonography is prepared. The Male ward, Female ward was visited there Dr. Chaudhary explained which type of patients are admitted in this ward and how they give the treatment. The surgery patients section was different and general ward was different. Matron Mone gave the information about dialysis section. The girl students visited gynecologist section where Dr. Kulkarni gave information of types of deliveries carries out in their section. Showed students machine which measures heartbeats of a baby.  Girl students also visited labor room and shown the various apparatus required for delivering baby. In the gynac the lady doctors explained how to take child care and mother care, also explained importance of breast feeding and advantages of it.
Students also visited children’s ward and met children and communicated with them. Mone madam explained the importance various vaccination to students. The Physiotherapy center was visited where Dr. Sandhaya explained about various instruments and explained one case study of a child. The other section like Dental section, billing section, eye section OPD was shown to students. In the end laboratory for testing hemoglobin and other blood testing information was given to students.
Dr. Swaleha Pathan explained students about healthy diet and advised not to eat junk food, also high lighted the importance of healthy body has healthy mind. Further she added the information regarding how to deal with sick people with care and love, supporting them with kind gesture and be sensitize with patients. made students aware about their social responsibility towards society.
The outcome of this visit was very impactful on students. The motto of the visit was successful as it was very informative and useful in life.

Intercollegiate Psychology Exhibition Psy-spectrum

First Prize winner from Poona College awarded by Chief Guest Dr. Mahesh Deshmukh The Department of Psychology had organized the Intercollegiate Psychology Exhibition Psy-Spectrum 2018 on Monday 17 th  September 2018.the aim of the exhibition was to bring out the talent among students and bring awareness of spectrum of psychology among all    faculty teaching staff, Non-Teaching staff and students. Wide spectrum of psychology field was displayed by various college students. In all total 8 colleges participated in this exhibition. Abeda Inamdar Senior College, Shri Shau Mandir Mahavidyalaya, S.N.D.T College for Women, Modern College, St. Mira’s Girls College, Junior College of    Poona college and    Maharashtra College from Mumbai had participated and displayed their creations. REPORT ON INTERACTIVE SESSION OF GUEST LECTURE:

The interactive session of guest lecture was organized by Department of Psychology on ‘Interpersonal Relationship and Communication’ by Dr. Alka Wadkar, Ex-Professor of Savitribai Phule Pune University and Gold Medalist of Kolhapur university, on 5 th December 2017.The student beneficiaries were   40+ by this session. Dr. Alka wadkar explained the importance of communication: verbal and non-verbal  communication, its advantages and disadvantages. She explained how communication plays important role in enhancing interpersonal relationship. She interacted with students and gave various examples to have clear understanding of topic at hand. She motivated the students to improve communication skills in turn interpersonal relationships. She played simulation technique with students so that they will  understand the errors made in communication. Psychology students enjoyed the interactive session.
