SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY ACTIVITY BY DEPARTMENT OF PSYCHOLOGYNEWS LATTER

Department of Psychology actively carried out social responsibility activity to build up the relationship with students of corporation school. The activity was carried out on 6th and 7th September 2018 for two days. The Corporation School located near Poona College area Maharshi Harkadas Vidhyalaya was chosen. The school Principal Mrs. Gorge cooperated and supported the event. The students admitted in this school are from very lower strata of Harkanagar and Kashiwadi slum areas. Dr. Swaleha Pathan and Mrs. Vasuda Vahval along with Psychology students visited the school on 6th September 18. We interacted and played innovative games to teach them basic Social Etiquette, Moral Values hygienic habits, study skills, techniques to improve memory and how to make use of our senses through play way method. Students from 4th to 7th Std participated in the activity. The enthusiastic and active participation from students is appreciated. The motto of this activity was to develop relationship with lower strata students and make them enhance their self- esteem.  Teaching moral values and making them realize the importance of education and encouraging them to be present in school every day so that they will get benefitted. This activity helped to reduce absenteeism. This social responsibility drive was committed to the welfare of society and carrying out civic duties. In all 38 students participated in the activity and got benefitted.
On 7th of September 2018, Dr. Swaleha Pathan along with NGO members Mrs. Natu and Mrs. Deshpande accompanied by Gopi Anarao Patil from Garware College and Akshay Ashok Kadam from Fergusson College visited the school next day. Through paly way method we taught the importance of teachers, parents, grandparents and elders by playing with them Tom & Jerry game. One short film was shown to all students by Mrs. Natu to make them realize every part of body and every gift by God is useful to carryout day to day life and never grumble for anything. By asking question what they want to become when they get adults made them set goals in life and asked them to take better education achieve their goals .

Intercollegiate Psychology Exhibition Psy-spectrum

First Prize winner from Poona College awarded by Chief Guest Dr. Mahesh Deshmukh The Department of Psychology had organized the Intercollegiate Psychology Exhibition Psy-Spectrum 2018 on Monday 17 th  September 2018.the aim of the exhibition was to bring out the talent among students and bring awareness of spectrum of psychology among all    faculty teaching staff, Non-Teaching staff and students. Wide spectrum of psychology field was displayed by various college students. In all total 8 colleges participated in this exhibition. Abeda Inamdar Senior College, Shri Shau Mandir Mahavidyalaya, S.N.D.T College for Women, Modern College, St. Mira’s Girls College, Junior College of    Poona college and    Maharashtra College from Mumbai had participated and displayed their creations. REPORT ON INTERACTIVE SESSION OF GUEST LECTURE:

The interactive session of guest lecture was organized by Department of Psychology on ‘Interpersonal Relationship and Communication’ by Dr. Alka Wadkar, Ex-Professor of Savitribai Phule Pune University and Gold Medalist of Kolhapur university, on 5 th December 2017.The student beneficiaries were   40+ by this session. Dr. Alka wadkar explained the importance of communication: verbal and non-verbal  communication, its advantages and disadvantages. She explained how communication plays important role in enhancing interpersonal relationship. She interacted with students and gave various examples to have clear understanding of topic at hand. She motivated the students to improve communication skills in turn interpersonal relationships. She played simulation technique with students so that they will  understand the errors made in communication. Psychology students enjoyed the interactive session.
